Pakistan is a wonderful travel destination especially if you love to experience other cultures and enjoy learning about history. Pakistan is the site of the Indus Valley civilization credited as one of the earliest civilizations in modern history. Pakistan is bordered by the Himalaya Mountain range and boasts some of the tallest mountains found in that hemisphere.

Pakistan has several important cities including Multan and Lahore. If you are a cautious traveler there are some cities that you may want to skip visiting while touring Pakistan including the cities in the Northwest Frontier Province.

Pakistan is the home to several tribal lands which are off limits to tourists. Additionally, there are still some disputes over the area of Kashmir and Jammu which makes these areas somewhat less safe than other areas of Pakistan. The cities of Pakistan still represent some of the most historically important and culturally thriving cities found in the world. There are a wide variety of historic mosques and cultural activities that you will want to visit during your trip to Pakistan.

Most of Pakistan is covered by a hot desert although the northern region of the country is considered arctic. You will want to make sure to bring long sleeved shirts and pants on your trip to protect your skin from the blistering heat and sudden sandstorms. In the rainy season you will find that the Indus Valley becomes excessively flooded by the Indus River. If you wish to visit the river it is best to do so in the drier seasons which are typically in the winter months of North America.

Pakistan has within its borders a fabulous mountainous landscape which is simply great for the hiking enthusiast. You can hire a guide to take you into the nearby Himalayas which lie in the northern regions of Pakistan. Since this area lies in the Kashmir region so you will certainly want to take some safety precautions when traveling here in this section of Pakistan.

Much of the border areas of Pakistan are considered to be slightly unruly so you should always take the advice of your local tour guide or the government when you are traveling to make sure that you know which areas are safest.

The mountains and the cities of Pakistan are some of the most desired locations for hikers and tourists alike. You should be safe in the interior regions of Pakistan or in the areas that are not bordered by the tribal regions of the area.
